SPRINGFIELD, MA, Nov. 11, 2006 - Elms College sophomore Catherine Andrews (Feeding Hills, MA) and senior Joe Crooks (Chicopee, MA) were the top individual finishers for the Blazers at Saturday's NCAA Division III New England Men and Women's Cross Country Qualifier hosted by Springfield College at Veterans Golf Course.

Andrews covered the 6,000-meter course in a time of 26:57 for the Blazers, who finished 45th out of 48 women's teams.

Crooks, meanwhile, was the top finisher for Elms College's men's team, which did not register a team score. He completed the 8,000-meter race in a time of 31:49.

Sophomore Jill Bigos (Florence, MA) and freshman Ryan Sullivan (Lenox, MA) capped off solid first seasons for the Blazers. Bigos clocked a time of 27:50 in the women's race, while Sullivan finished in 32:17.

Saturday's NCAA Qualifier marked the 2006 season finale for both Elms College cross country teams.
