Office E-mail: gisbrechts@elms.edu

Sheila Gisbrecht was named interim head coach of the women's volleyball program in August 2008.

Coach Gisbrecht, who has served as the assistant coach of Ohio Wesleyan University's women's volleyball program for the past 11 seasons, brings more than 15 years of collegiate playing and coaching experience to her new position at Elms College.

She played an integral role in the success of Ohio Wesleyan's women's volleyball program during her 11 seasons as assistant coach there, and the Battling Bishops posted five 20-plus win seasons during that time.

During her collegiate playing career, Coach Gisbrecht was a four-year letter winner at Ohio Wesleyan. A three-time All-North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) selection, she capped her career by earning NCAC Player of the Year honors as a senior in 1994. She earned her bachelor's degree with a teaching certification from Ohio Wesleyan in 1995.

Coach Gisbrecht later continued her volleyball-playing career in the Midwest Professional Volleyball Association, and was ranked as high as 21st in the league following her rookie season in 2003.

Also a four-year track and field letter winner for the Battling Bishops, Coach Gisbrecht was inducted into Ohio Wesleyan's Athletics Hall of Fame in 2005.

"With our returning players and a large incoming class, I'm optimistic about this season," Coach Gisbrecht said. "I think this is an exciting opportunity to help Elms College establish itself as a perennial contender in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) for years to come."
