CHICOPEE, Mass. – Elms College senior Devon DeGrazia (Westport, Mass.) set a new school record in the 50-meter freestyle with a time of 28.80 in the first leg of the 200-meter freestyle relay and added a trio of individual wins as the Blazers downed St. Joseph's College (Maine), 137-119.
With the win, Elms improves to 1-2 on the season, while St. Joseph's moves to 1-1 overall.
DeGrazia secured wins in the 800-meter freestyle (10:06.99), the 200-meter freestyle (2:16.37) and the 400-meter freestyle (4:53.52).
Freshman Abigail Will (Hopkinton, Mass.) also added three victories including top times in the 100-meter butterfly (1:16.65), the 50-meter butterfly (32.93) and the 100-meter individual medley (1:17.71).
Freshman Sarah Swart (Willington, Conn.) won the 50-meter freestyle with a time of 32.26, while the team of DeGrazia, sophomore Crystal Archibald (Portland, Maine), Will and Swart clocked a time of 2:21.29 in the 200-meter medley relay to place first in the event.
The Monks were led by Anne Fougere (Warner, N.H.) who placed first in the 50-meter breaststroke (41.46) and the 100-meter breaststroke (1:30.78), while the team of Lauren Halvorsen (South Portland, Maine), Danielle Charette (Westfield, Mass.), Olivia Pickering (South Portland, Maine) and Lauren Prue (Glenburn, Maine) won the 200-meter freestyle relay with a time of 2:15.22.
Elms returns to action on Saturday, November 16 at Colby-Sawyer College at 1:00 p.m.
