    The College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) announced the Scholar All-America Team Awards for the 2011 fall semester. Over 500 college and university teams across NCAA Divisions I, II and III have achieved the honor.

    The Elms College men’s swim team placed 8th out of 12 teams and the women’s team earned 10th place out of 22 teams to complete its 2011-12 season following Sunday’s action at the three-day New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association (NEISDA) Championships at the Upper Valley Aquatics Center in White River Junction, Vt.

  • Elms, Norwich swimmers share sportsmanship moment

    Elms College junior swimmer Tricia Ruell needed one final race to make the cut for the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association (NEISDA) Championship in the 200-yard backstroke. It is often the case that swimmers need to make the cut at the end of the season and at times the races that an individual may need are not scheduled during a regular meet. This was the situation for her on Jan. 27 when the Blazers faced Norwich University in dual action.

    Elms College sophomore Keegan Goan (Westbrook, Maine) set a new University of New England (UNE) pool record in the 50-yard butterfly and Devon DeGrazia (Westport, Mass.) set a new school record in the 1650-yard freestyle and her split in the 1000-yard freestyle was also a school record as the Blazers swam to a split in Saturday’s dual meet in Biddeford, Maine.

    Elms College sophomore Keegan Goan (Westbrook, Maine) clocked a new school record in the 50-meter butterfly and sophomore Devon DeGrazia (Westport, Mass.) shattered a pair of school marks in the 800-meter freestyle and 400-meter freestyle to help pace the Blazers to a sweep of Bridgewater State University in Wednesday evening's men's and women's swimming dual meet at Partyka Natatorium.

    Members of the Elms College swim teams including head coach Bill Tyler, senior Nicholas Provost (Three Rivers, Mass.), and juniors Tessa Dudunake (Northampton, Mass.) and Emalee Furtek (Ludlow, Mass.) will appear on ESPN Radio Springfied’s College Weekly. The show will run from 4:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. on AM station 1450 on Friday, Dec. 9.

  • Men’s and Women’s Swimming to Participate in Sixth Annual Hour of Power Relay

    The Elms College men’s and women’s swim teams will participate in the sixth annual “Hour of Power” relay in honor of Carleton College swimmer Ted Mullin, who died in the fall of 2006 from sarcoma, a rare soft-tissue cancer, on Tuesday, Nov. 8 at 5:00 p.m. Funds raised through this event support research at the University of Chicago into the causes and treatment of sarcoma in young people.
