BOSTON, Mass. – Elms College freshmen women's swimmers Devon DeGrazia (Westport, Mass.) and Ashley Kirchner (Dalton, Mass.) tabbed Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly honors as announced by the organization on Tuesday.
DeGrazia earned her second GNAC Swimmer of the Week award and third weekly accolade overall after setting three new school records in a dual meet against UMass-Dartmouth and had a hand in the Blazers' school record and pool record breaking 200-meter freestyle relay. DeGrazia powered her way to first place finishes in the 200-meter freestyle (2:17.05), the 400-meter freestyle (5:03.34) and the 100-meter backstroke (1:11.80).
Kirchner earned her second GNAC Rookie of the Week award after clocking two new Elms school records and a first place finish. Kirchner won the 100-meter breaststroke with a time of 1:22.93 and set a pair of school records in the 800-meter freestyle (10:39.51) and the 50-meter butterfly (32.47), recording second place honors in both events. She was also a member of the Blazers' record-shattering 200-meter freestyle relay that posted a time 1:58.93 and helped seal a thrilling victory for Elms.
