ELMS COLLEGE SWEEPS DUAL MEET WITH NORWICH, GORDON

CHICOPEE, MA., Jan. 26, 2008 - Elms College sophomore Liz Walker (Holyoke, MA) took first in a pair of individual events to help lead the Blazers to a sweep of Saturday's women's swimming dual meet against Norwich and Gordon in Northfield, Vermont.

Elms College defeated Norwich 99-33 and battled to earn a victory against Gordon 71-59.  With the sweep Elms College improves an overall record of 6-7 on the season.

Walker clocked winning times in both the 200-yard individual medley (2:27.95) and the 100-yard individual medley (1:08.95).  Also contributing to the Blazer victory was sophomore Stephanie Soriano (Cheshire, MA), who earned a first place finish in the 100-yard butterfly (1:43.54), and senior Kaity Jo Bryll (East Hartland, CT) who outpaced competitors in the 50-yard freestyle (27.69). 

Bryll also added a pair of second place finishes in the 200-yard freestyle (2:15.74) and the 100-yard freestyle (59.34). 

Elms College returns to action Wednesday, January 30 at Eastern Connecticut with Wheelock.  Meet time is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
