WOMEN'S SWIMMING FALLS TO UMASS-DARTMOURTH 149-110

CHICOPEE, MA, Jan. 16, 2006 - Elms College freshman Marie Waterhouse (East Longmeadow, MA) set a school record and sophomore Kate Orefice (Southington, CT) won a pair of events, but UMass-Dartmouth senior Meagan Coache (New Bedford, MA) shattered a pair of pool records en route to leading the Corsairs to a 149-110 victory over the Blazers in Tuesday night's women's swimming meet at Partyka Natatorium.

With the victory, UMass-Dartmouth improves to 1-6 overall, while the Blazers fall to 3-6 overall.

Coache broke pool records in both the 50-meter and 100-meter butterfly events with times of 30.72 and 1:08.52 respectively. She also recorded the top finish in the 50-meter freestyle with a time of 29.76.

Waterhouse set a school record in the 200-meter freestyle registering a time of 2:24.58 while also placing first in the 100-meter backstroke with a finishing time of 1:15.32.

Orefice recorded victories in the 50-meter breaststroke (39.33) and the 100-meter individual medley (1:17.26), while freshman Elizabeth Walker (Holyoke, MA) earned a pair of first place finishes in the 200-meter individual medley (2:43.18) and 100-meter breaststroke (1:22.84).

The Corsairs received a pair of first place finishes from junior Renee Kruszyna (Cheshire, MA) in the 200-meter freestyle (2:23.92) and 100-meter freestyle (1:08.02).

The Blazers return to action Saturday January, 20 when they travel to Husson. Meet time is scheduled for 12:00p.m.
