CHICOPEE, Mass. – Elms College sophomore midfielder Carmen Marino (Granby, Mass.) scored a pair of second half goals to help pace the Blazers to a 3-0 victory over Bay Path College in Saturday afternoon's New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) women's soccer game at Leary Field.

With the win, Elms improves to 4-8-1 overall, 3-0-1 in NECC action, while Bay Path slips to 2-9-2 on the season, 1-4-0 in league play.

After controlling pace of play throughout the first half, Elms drew first blood in the 44th minute when sophomore midfielder Gina DiGiovanni (Springfield, Mass.) drilled the ball into the back of the net following a pass from junior forward Victoria Cebula (Granby, Mass.) to give the Blazers a 1-0 advantage at halftime.

Elms added to its lead in the 69th minute when Marino scored on the rebound of her own initial shot that was saved by Bay Path's goalkeeper Marina Rhodes (Providence, R.I.). Marino struck again two minutes later when freshman defender Hannah Spring (South Hadley, Mass.) delivered a centering pass that Marino capitalized on with her second goal of the contest to lift the Blazers' lead to 3-0.

The Wildcats, which managed just one shot in the first 45 minutes, fired six shots, including a two on goal as Emily Serrano (Savoy, Mass.) and Melina Isdith (Rego Park, N.Y.) tallied two shots on target each.

Elms' freshman goalkeeper Alexa Rinaudo (Bellmore, N.Y.) made two saves in 35:59 of action, while junior net-minder Hayley Zisk (Baldwinville, Mass.) and freshman goalkeeper Marissa Yowell (Ashland, Mass.) didn't face a shot on target.

The Blazers return to conference play on Tuesday, Oct. 16 for a 3:30 p.m. match at Mitchell College.
