WOMEN'S SOCCER EDGED BY JOHNSON STATE, 1-0

Box score

CHICOPEE, MA, Oct. 6, 2007 - Elms College junior goalkeeper Shannon Donnelly (Florence, MA) blocked two shots, but Johnson State defender Jenah Bugbee (Belvidere, VT) scored an early goal that would stand as the game winner for a 1-0 victory in Saturday afternoon's North Atlantic Conference (NAC) women's soccer game at Leary Field.

Bugbee's score came in the ninth minute as she blasted a shot from just outside the 18-yard box.  Bugbee's kick deflected off an Elms College defender and slipped past the diving Donnelly.

Johnson State freshman goalkeeper Jenna Wulfson (Shelburne, VT) was called upon to make 11 saves to help preserve the victory.

With the win the Badgers improve to a record of 6-5, 2-4 NAC while Elms College falls to 3-8-1, 2-3-1 NAC.

Elms College returns to conference action Thursday, October 11 at Wheelock.  Game time is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
