WOMEN'S SOCCER DOWNS BECKER, 4-0

CHICOPEE, MA, Sept. 15, 2007 - Elms College sophomore forward Krystyna Gagne (Methuen, MA) netted a pair of goals and junior goalkeeper Shannon Donnelly (Florence, MA) stopped two shots to pace the Blazers to a convincing 4-0 shutout win over Becker College in Saturday's North Atlantic Conference (NAC) women's soccer opener for both teams at Leary Field.

Elms College won its second straight game and improved to 2-4, 1-0 NAC. Becker remained winless at 0-5, 0-1 NAC.

After a scoreless first half that saw the Blazers outshoot the visiting Hawks 13-0, Gagne scored her first two goals of the season with tallies in the 48th and 51st minutes.

Sophomore forward Kelsey Battige (Monson, MA) scored her third goal in the last two games in the 58th minute and sophomore midfielder Shannon Schickler (Adams, MA) closed the scoring with her first goal of the year in the 88th minute.

Freshman goalkeeper Caitlin Faunce (Fairhaven, MA) turned aside 14 shots for the Hawks in the loss.

Elms College returns to conference play at Lesley University on Wednesday, September 19. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
