WOMEN'S SOCCER DOWNS BAY PATH, 3-1

CHICOPEE, MA, Oct. 3, 2007 - Elms College sophomore forward Krystyna Gagne (Methuen, MA) netted a pair of goals and the Blazers snapped a three-game losing streak with a 3-1 win over Bay Path College in Wednesday night's North Atlantic Conference (NAC) women's soccer game at Leary Field.

Elms College improved to 3-7-1 overall, 2-2-1 NAC, while Bay Path fell to 4-5-1, 2-3-1 NAC.

Gagne gave the Blazers a 1-0 lead with her fourth goal of the season in the 26th minute.

Senior forward Marianne Owens (Lee, NH) answered for the Wildcats just 83 seconds later to knot the score at 1-1.

Sophomore midfielder Shannon Schickler (Adams, MA) tallied what proved to be the eventual game-winner 73 seconds after Owens' goal.

Gagne then added her second goal of the contest - fifth of the year - in the 65th minute to close the scoring.

Junior Shannon Donnelly (Florence, MA) and freshman Miranda Allen (Holyoke, MA) combined for three stops in goal for the Blazers, who outshot the Wildcats 31-8.

Sophomore goalkeeper Samantha Gunseth (Swanzey, NH) was sensational for the Wildcats, as she finished with 15 saves in the losing effort.

Elms College returns to conference play when it hosts Johnson State on Saturday, October 3. Game time is 1:00 p.m.
