WOMEN'S SOCCER BREEZES PAST WHEELOCK, 7-1

BOSTON, MA., Oct. 11, 2007 - Elms College freshman midfielder Alison Couture (Chicopee, MA) netted the game winning goal and sophomore forward Kelsey Battige (Monson, MA) tallied two scores to help the Blazers earn a  7-1 victory against Wheelock in Thursday's North Atlantic Conference (NAC) women's soccer game in Boston.

The Blazers opened the scoring in the first half when Battige scored off a feed from senior defender Jamie Walsh (Springfield, MA).  Wheelock responded with a goal 15 minutes later to even the score at 1-1.

Couture scored what would stand as the game-winning goal off an assist from sophomore forward Krystyna Gagne (Metheun, MA) to give Elms College a 2-1 lead prior to intermission.

In the second half the Blazers erupted for five scores.  Gagne netted her team-leading sixth goal of the season assisted by sophomore midfielder Maggie Rivers (Dalton, MA).  Both Walsh and sophomore midfielder Vanessa Pare (Belchertown, MA) scored their first goals of the season.  The final score of the match came when sophomore forward Serina Percoski (Westfield, MA) scored off and assist from freshman midfielder Sarah Donais (Granby, MA)
