WOMEN'S SOCCER LEAPS PAST LESLEY, 2-0
IN NAC TOURNAMENT QUARTERFINALS

Box score

CAMBRIDGE, MA, Oct. 27, 2007 - Elms College sophomore forward Krystyna Gagne (Methuen, MA) tallied a pair of goals and junior goalkeeper Shannon Donnelly (Florence, MA) recorded her third shutout of the season to lead the No. 5 Blazers to a 2-0 shutout over No. 4 Lesley University in Saturday afternoon's North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Women's Soccer Tournament quarterfinal game at Cambridge.

With the win, Elms College (7-9-1) advances to play at No. 1 University of Maine-Farmington (14-3-1) on Tuesday, October 30. Game time is yet to be determined.

In Saturday's quarterfinal, Gagne wasted little time in getting the Blazers in front as she netted her team-leading eighth goal of the year just 26 seconds into the game, as she collected a beautiful pass from sophomore forward Kelsey Battige (Monson, MA) and blasted a low shot past Lesley goalkeeper Hailee Lowe (Hamilton, MA).

With game still 1-0 in the 65th minute, Gagne deposited her second goal of the contest - ninth of the year - to provide the Blazers an insurance tally.

From there Donnelly did the rest, as she registered six of her seven saves in the second half for the Blazers, who were outshot by the Lynx 23-6 over the final 45 minutes.
