WOMEN'S SOCCER FALLS TO TRINITY COLLEGE, 4-2

Box score

HARTFORD, CT, Oct. 9, 2006 - Elms College sophomore goalkeeper Shannon Donnelly (Florence, MA) stopped 11 shots, including several point-blank saves, but Trinity College netted a pair of first half goals then hung on to post a 2-1 win over the Blazers in Monday's non-conference women's soccer game at Hartford, Connecticut.

Trinity sophomore midfielder Devin Nwanagu (Westborough, MA.) scored in the 18th minute on a hard shot from just outside the box. The Bantams added a second goal later in the first half as junior midfielder Katherine O'Brien (Lynnfield, MA) scored off a pass from sophomore forward Delia DeBlois (Sherborn, MA).

Elms College cut the deficit in half when Trinity junior defender Emma Cordiano (West Hartford, Conn.) tried to clear the ball from the front of the Bantam net but kicked the ball into the Trinity goal. Elms College freshman forward Krystyna Gagne (Methuen, MA) was credited with the goal on the play.

The host Bantams pressured the Blazers throughout and held a decisive 25-3 advantage in shots.

Elms College returns to North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play on Wednesday, October 11 when it hosts Lasell College. Game time is 4:00 p.m.
