WOMEN'S BASKETBALL FALLS TO WNEC, 88-54

CHICOPEE, MA, Nov. 18, 2008 - Western New England College sophomore guard Taryn Belowsky (New Haven, CT) and junior guard Kailah Al-Darraji (Dover, NH) netted 16 points apiece to carry the visiting Golden Bears to an 88-54 win over Elms College in Tuesday night's non-conference women's basketball game at the Maguire Center.

WNEC improved to 2-0 on the season and was victorious for the 21st time in 30 all-time meetings with the Blazers, who fell to 0-2.

Belowsky, who went 4 for 4 from 3-point range in the opening 20 minutes, drained two of her trifectas that keyed a 16-0 run by the Golden Bears in the game's first 5:45.

WNEC shot 51.3-percent in the first half to build a commanding 53-20 lead at intermission.

Elms College junior center Amanda Brogna (Oxford, MA) dropped in nine of her team-high 15 points in the first half, and freshman guard Misty Kology (Ludlow, MA) added 12 of her collegiate career-high 13 points in the second half.

Elms College returns to action when it hosts the Blazers Tip-Off Tournament on Friday, November 21 - Saturday, November 22.
