  ELMS COLLEGE DEFEATED BY MOUNT HOLYOKE, 60-55

CHICOPEE, MA, Nov. 27, 2007 - Elms College junior guard Jenn Payton (Stratford, CT) scored 19 points and senior guard Michelle Fernandes (Danbury, CT) added 10 points, but the Blazers were unable to stop Mount Holyoke from earning a victory 60-55 in Tuesday night's non-conference women's basketball game at the Maguire Center.

Mount Holyoke snapped its season-opening, three-game losing streak and improved to 1-3 overall. Elms College lost its third straight to fall to 1-3.

Elms College sophomore Amanda Brogna (Oxford, MA) scored nine points and grabbed 11 rebounds in the losing effort.

Mount Holyoke junior guard Katie Austen (Mount Sinai, NY) amassed a game-high 22 points, including 8 of 11 from the free throw line.  Sophomore forward Jess Olson (Gilbert, AZ) contributed 14 points and 13 rebounds for the Lyons to record the game's only double-double.

Elms College returns to non-conference action when the Blazers host Nichols College on Thursday, November 29.  Game time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
