WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TAMES WHEELOCK, 64-54

CHESTNUT HILL, MA, Feb. 23, 2008 - Junior forward Paige Schneider (Windsor, CT) poured in a collegiate career-high 21 points and added a game-high five assists to lead Elms College to a 64-54 win over Wheelock College in Saturday afternoon's North Atlantic Conference (NAC) women's basketball game at Chestnut Hill.

Elms College improved its record to 9-16 overall, 6-9 NAC. Wheelock drops to 4-20, 1-14 NAC.

The Blazers held the Wildcats to 23-percent shooting in the first half as they took a 32-21 lead into intermission. The Blazers overcame 23 turnovers by dominating the glass with a 46-35 rebounding advantage and outscored the host Wildcats 34-18 in the paint.

Junior forward Shauna Sullivan (Chicopee, MA) and sophomore guard Ally Wanat (West Springfield, MA) joined Schneider in double-figure scoring with 12 and 10 points, respectively for the Blazers. Sullivan also had a team-high nine rebounds in the victory.

Sophomore guard Sarah Brown (Plainville, CT) had 23 points to lead the Wildcats. Junior guard Amelia Woodley (Randolph, MA) added 14 points in the losing effort.

Elms College will now await its seeding in the upcoming North Atlantic Conference Tournament. Quarterfinals are set for Tuesday, February 26.
