WOMEN'S BASKETBALL FALLS TO MAINE-FARMINGTON, 60-43

FARMINGTON, ME, Jan. 25, 2008 - Elms College freshman guard Justine Tokas (Enfield, CT) netted 14 points and grabbed nine rebounds, but the University of Maine-Farmington overcame a one-point halftime deficit and eventually pulled away to a 60-43 win over the Blazers in Friday night's North Atlantic Conference (NAC) women's basketball game at Dearborn Gymnasium.

Elms College lost its fifth straight game and fell to 5-10 overall, 2-3 NAC. Maine-Farmington, meanwhile, improved to 7-9, 4-3 NAC.

The contest was tied at 28-28 early in the second half before the Beavers ripped off a 9-0 stretch with a layup by Elizabeth Bell (Waterville, ME) with 14:08 left in the game giving Farmington a 37-28 lead.

The Blazers, who led 28-27 at halftime, got as close as five points, but were held to only two field goals in the final 9:30 of the contest as the Beavers went on an 11-2 stretch to build a double-digit lead and close out the victory.

Elms College returns to conference play on Saturday, January 26 at Thomas College. Tip-off is 4:00 p.m.
