WOMEN'S BASKETBALL RALLIES PAST LASELL, 68-59

CHICOPEE, MA, Feb. 10, 2007 - Elms College freshman guard Ally Wanat (West Springfield, MA) tallied a team-high 12 points and junior point guard Michelle Fernandes (Danbury, CT) added 11 points to help lead the Blazers to a 68-59 win over Lasell College in Saturday afternoon's North Atlantic Conference (NAC) women's basketball game at the Maguire Center.

Elms College snapped a five-game losing streak and improved to 7-15 overall, 5-10 NAC. Lasell fell to 11-11 overall, 8-7 NAC.

The Blazers, who trailed 28-26 at intermission, scored five of the first seven points to start the second half and never trailed from there.

Elms College led 48-43 with 4:58 remaining before using a 7-2 run over the next 55 seconds, capped off by a 3-pointer and jumper by freshman guard Annie Dunnack (Mansfield Center, CT) and a layup by Wanat.

Dunnack and sophomore forward Paige Schneider (Windsor, CT) each finished with nine points for the Blazers, who held a 30-9 advantage in bench scoring.

Senior guard Courtney Casserly (Stoughton, MA), who needed 20 points to tie Lasell's all-time scoring record, netted a game-high 21 points to break the previous record of 1,192.

Elms College returns to NAC play on Tuesday, February 13 at Lesley University. Game time is 8:00 p.m.
