SOFTBALL OUTLASTS OLIVET, 6-4

FORT MYERS, FL., March 8, 2008 - Elms College senior shortstop Karyn Palomba (Enfield, CT) went 2 for 4 including a sacrifice bunt in the ninth inning to help push the Blazers past Olivet College 6-4 in Saturday afternoon's non-conference softball game held at the Gene Cusic Classic in Fort Myers, Florida.

Palomba's squeeze in the ninth inning brought home freshman pitcher Andrea Ramsdell (Gardner, MA) with the winning run.  Ramsdell finished the game 2 for 4 with two runs scored.

Senior pitcher Tammie Tremblay (Springfield, MA) earned her first win of the season with a complete game, seven-strikeout performance..  Tremblay allowed just four runs on 10 hits through nine innings.  

Elms College returns to non-conference action later today when the Blazers face Wheaton at 5:00 p.m..  The game is part of the Gene Cusic Classic and will be held in Fort Myers, Florida.
