SOFTBALL TOPS SKIDMORE, 7-4

FORT MYERS, FL. March 9, 2008 - Elms College freshman outfielder Alison McBride (East Providence, RI) blasted a bases clearing triple and the Blazers piled up seven runs on nine hits to defeat Skidmore 7-4 in Sunday morning's non-conference softball game held at the Gene Cusic Classic in Fort Myers, Florida.

With the victory Elms College improves to a record of 2-1 on the season.

McBride finished 2 for 3 and tallied four RBI to lead the Blazers offensively.  McBride's triple came with the bases loaded and McBride was able to score due to a throwing error.

Senior pitcher Tammie Tremblay (Springfield, MA) pitched five innings and limited Skidmore to four runs on just three hits.

Sophomore third baseman Ally Graffum (Ipswich, MA) was 2 for 3 in the winning effort.

Elms College returns to non-conference action later today when the Blazers face Salem State at 1:00 p.m.  The game is part of the Gene Cusic Classic and will be held in Fort Myers, Florida.
