Keith Godek

Elms College sophomore men's cross country runner Keith Godek (Chicopee, Mass.) was selected as this week's male student athlete spotlight.

Godek, a management major at Elms, finished his first season as a member of the men's cross country team in the fall of 2010.

Godek raced to a time of 40:54 at the James Early Invitational hosted by Westfield State University on Oct. 9. Godek finished the season at the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Championship on Oct. 31 with a time of 41:37 in the 8-kilometer race. Godek also galloped to a 26:50 finish in the season-opening 5-kilometer race hosted by Smith College on Sept. 11.

Briefly describe your favorite sports moment (playing or as a fan):

My favorite sports moment was my first time swimming at Harvard for the state finals.

Who has been your biggest influence in sports and why:

My parents because they raised me.

Why did you choose to attend Elms College:

I chose Elms College because it is close to home, is affordable and has a great community.

Where is your favorite place to travel and why:

My favorite place to travel to is Greece because of the environment.

Where is the one place you would like to travel to in the future and why:

I would like to visit Australia to see the Great Barrier Reef.

What is your favorite sports book or movie:

My favorite movie is The Blind Side because it has great acting.
