Chicopee, MA – The Elms College Men's Volleyball team took one step closer to winning back to back NECC championships. The Blazers were all business in their semi-final match with Eastern Nazarene College on Thursday night, taking the match in straight sets (25-10, 25-14, 25-13).
The Lions did their best to hang tough and kept the score close early on. The Blazers held a slim two point lead, but went on a run scoring nine of the next 11 points behind kills from Jovanny Torres (Juncos, P.R.) and Daniel Martinez (Bayamon, P.R.) taking the opening set 25-10.
The second set saw the Lions do their best to keep things close and were able to hang with the Blazers. Just like in the first set the Blazers would go on a run and score 12 out of the final 14 points and take the middle set 25-14.
The third and final set saw Elms power past Eastern Nazarene and pull out to a 20-8 lead. The Lions would do their beat to try and stay close but the Blazers were too much and would eventually take the set 25-13 and the match 3-0.
The Blazers will face familiar foe #12 Endicott College in the NECC championship on Saturday at 2 p.m.
