Chicopee, MA – The Elms College Men's Volleyball Team pushed its winning streak to 8 games tonight with a straight set victory over the visiting Bison of Nichols College on their senior night. (25-12, 25-16, 25-18).
The Blazers controlled the match right from the start and built a 17-6 lead behind kills form Jake Johnson (Warwick, R.I.) and Jeremy Torres (Juncos, P.R). Nichols had a difficult time keeping up with the Blazers and committed multiple errors to help Elms secure the opening set 25-12.
Nichols seemed to find their game in the second set; however with the score 14-14 Jovanny Torres (Juncos, P.R) stepped up and provided a spark with 3 kills including the final point of the set to give the Blazers a 25-16 second set win.
The Bison would hang around in the third set pushing the score to 18-16 behind kills from Lance Law and Andre Foster, but a combination of kills from David Martinez (Manati, P.R) and Jeremy Torres would prove to be too much for Nichols to handle. The Blazers would take the third and final set 25-18 and secure the straight set win.
The Blazers are back in action on Saturday when they host a tri-match with Dean College at 11 A.M. and #4 Stevens College at 3 P.M.
