Kevin Welsh

Elms College freshman men's volleyball player Kevin Welsh (Wilbraham, Mass.) was selected as this week's male student athlete spotlight.

A special needs education major at Elms, Welsh completed his first season as a member of the Blazers' men's volleyball program in the spring of 2011.

Welsh dished out 183 assists as Elms' primary setter through the first nine matches of the 2011 season before injury sidelined him for the duration of the campaign. Welsh, who averaged 6.10 assists per set, handed out a collegiate-career best 38 helpers in a 3-0 sweep of Lesley University. He also added seven kills, five service aces and 38 digs in his debut season for the Blazers.
