MEN'S VOLLEYBALL SOARS OVER MOUNT IDA, 3-0

CHICOPEE, MA, March 26, 2008 - Elms College freshman opposite Alberto Bravo (Toa Baja, Puerto Rico) put down a team-high 10 kills and sophomore setter Ivan Andujar (Carolina, Puerto Rico) handed out a match-high 31 assists to help the Blazers cruise to a 3-0 (30-17, 30-19, 30-23) win over Mount Ida in Wednesday night's non-conference men's volleyball match at the Maguire Center.

The Blazers (19-8) extended their win streak to seven straight and were victorious for the 10th time in their last 11 matches.

Mount Ida lost its seventh straight and fell to 4-22.

Freshman middle blocker Curt Despard (Enfield, CT), last week's North East Collegiate Volleyball Association (NECVA) Rookie of the Week, added nine kills and hit .500 (9-2-14) for the Blazers, who hit .295 as a team for the match (41-18-78).

Senior middle blocker Tim Hughes (Holliston, MA) knocked down a match-high 11 kills for the Mustangs, whose last win over the Blazers came in 2005.

Elms College concludes regular season play against Endicott on Saturday, March 29 at 7:00 p.m. in a key NECVA New England Division match.
