MEN'S VOLLEYBALL VAULTS PAST WENTWORTH, 3-1

BOSTON, MA, Feb. 5, 2008 - Elms College freshman middle blocker Curt Despard (Enfield, CT) hammered out a collegiate career-high 16 kills and sophomore setter Ivan Andujar (Carolina, Puerto Rico) handed out 50 assists to help the Blazers cruise to a 3-1 (30-22, 30-19, 28-30, 30-25) win over Wentworth in Tuesday night's North East Collegiate Volleyball Association (NECVA) New England Division match at Tansey Gymnasium.

Elms College extended its win streak to four straight and improved to 4-3 overall, 1-2 NECVA New England. Wentworth lost its fifth straight and fell to 1-5, 1-2 NECVA New England.

Freshman outside hitter Carlos DeLeon-Gomez (Carolina, Puerto Rico) added 16 kills, five aces and 10 digs for the Blazers, who have posted victories over SUNY-New Paltz, Emmanuel and Lasell during its current win streak.

Andujar's 50-assist night marked the sixth time in seven matches that he has registered 50-plus helpers. He has also notched two 60-plus assist efforts this season.

Elms College returns to non-conference action at Lesley University on Thursday, February 7. Match time is 8:00 p.m.
