  ELMS COLLEGE EDGED BY NEWBURY, 3-2

BROOKLINE, MA. Feb. 29, 2008 - Elms College freshman outside hitters Alberto Bravo (Toa Baja, Puerto Rico) and Carlos DeLeon-Gomez (Carolina, Puerto Rico) combined to record 37 kills, but Newbury ultimately earned a 3-2 (30-26, 27-30, 30-25, 28-30, 15-5) victory over the Blazers in Friday night's non-conference men's volleyball game.

Bravo tallied a match-high 20 kills and Gomez chipped in 20 digs.  Junior outside hitter Marc Carrasco (Tucson, AZ) knocked down 15 kills and recorded 20 digs.

Sophomore setter Ivan Andjuar (Carolina, Puerto Rico) handed out 57 assists in the losing effort.

Seniors LeRoy Cooper (Claremont, CA) and Eric Konstanski (Hampden, MA) led the way for the Nighthawks with 12 and 15 kills respectively.

Elms College returns to non-conference play Saturday, March 1 when the Blazers host MIT.  Match time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
