MEN'S VOLLEYBALL SOARS OVER MOUNT IDA, 3-0

NEWTON, MA, March 5, 2008 - Elms College freshman outside hitter Alberto Bravo (Toa Baja, Puerto Rico) knocked down a team-high 12 kills and sophomore setter Ivan Andujar (Carolina, Puerto Rico) handed out 44 assists to help the Blazers post a 3-0 (30-21, 30-22, 30-27) win over Mount Ida in Wednesday night's North East Collegiate Volleyball Association (NECVA) New England Division men's volleyball match.

Elms College won for the fourth time in its last six matches to improve to 10-7 overall, 5-2 NECVA New England. The Blazers' 10 victories also tied the program-record for wins in a season set last season. Mount Ida fell to 4-18, 2-7 NECVA New England.

Andujar's 44 assists were a personal best for a three-game match and the setter surpassed his previous single-season school record of 838 assists.  Andjuar has now tallied 843 assists on the season. 

Junior outside hitter Marc Carrasco (Tucson, AZ) added 10 kills and a team-high 18 digs, while freshman outside hitter Carlos DeLeon-Gomez (Carolina, Puerto Rico) recorded 13 digs.

Elms College returns to non-conference play on Sunday, March 9 in a tri-match at Bard College that will also include Yeshiva. The first match is set for 2:00 p.m.
