MEN'S VOLLEYBALL SWEEPS TRI-MATCH WITH BARD, YESHIVA

ANNANDALE, NY. March 9, 2008 - Elms College sophomore setter Ivan Andujar (Carolina, Puerto Rico) racked up a combined 100 assists in two matches to help lead the Blazers to a sweep of Sunday's North East Collegiate Volleyball Association tri-match held in Annandale, New York.

The Blazers first defeated Yeshiva University 3-0 (30-10, 30-8, 30-12) and then beat host Bard College 3-0 (30-27, 30-27, 30-26).  With the two wins Elms College improves to an overall mark of 12-7, 5-2 NECVA.

Freshman middle hitter Curt Despard (Enfield, CT) knocked down a team-high 14 kills in the victory over Yeshiva.  Freshman outside hitter Courtney Johnson (Belchertown, MA) tallied 13 kills while junior libero Marc Carrasco (Tucson, AZ) contributed 14 digs in the winning effort.

Freshman outside hitter Alberto Bravo (Toa Baja, Puerto Rico) hammered home a match-high 22 kills to push the Blazers past Bard.  Freshman outside hitter Carlos DeLeon-Gomez (Carolina, Puerto Rico) added 14 kills in the Blazer victory.

Carrasco recorded a team-high 20 digs in the win over Bard.  Andujar amassed 50 assists against both Yeshiva and Bard.

Elms College returns to action Friday, March 14 at the York Tournament.  Match-time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
