MEN'S VOLLEYBALL FALLS TO NEWBURY COLLEGE, 3-0

CHICOPEE, MA, Mar. 3, 2007 - Elms College junior outside hitter Byron Bledsoe (Lake Forest, CA) notched a match-high 10 kills and 10 digs but Newbury College junior setter Matthew Hartmann (Feeding Hills, MA) registered 24 assists en route to a 3-0 (30-24, 30-25, 30-23) victory over the Blazers in Saturday afternoon's non-conference men's volleyball match at the Maguire Center.

With the loss, Elms College has dropped four of its last five to fall to 7-11 overall. Newbury has won seven of its last eight to improve to 15-6 overall.

Freshman setter Ivan Andujar (Carolina, Puerto Rico) tallied a match-high 28 assists and freshman outside hitter Mike Ryan (Ludlow, MA) added seven kills in the loss for the Blazers.

Newbury junior outside hitter Jay Neveu (Riverside, RI) contributed seven kills while sophomore libero Nicholas Horrocks (New Bedford, MA) added nine digs in the winning effort for the Nighthawks.

The Blazers return to conference play on Wednesday, March 7 when they host Mount Ida. Match time is set for 7:00 p.m.
