MEN'S VOLLEYBALL FALLS TO NO. 10 MIT, 3-0

CHICOPEE, MA, Feb. 28, 2007 - Elms College junior outside hitter Byron Bledsoe (Lake Forest, CA) registered a match-high 13 kills but No. 10 MIT combined for 48 kills en route to a 3-0 (30-24, 30-25, 30-23) victory over the Blazers in Wednesday night's North East Collegiate Volleyball Association (NECVA) New England Division men's volleyball match at the Maguire Center.

With its 15th straight win, MIT improves to 18-1 overall, 9-0 NECVA and is one win away from tying the school-record for consecutive wins. Elms College loses for the third time in its last four matches to fall to 7-10 overall, 2-5 NECVA.

MIT junior outside hitter Praveen Pamidimukkala (Edison, NJ) notched a team-high 12 kills while freshman middle hitter Michael Demyttenaere (Brussels, Belgium) contributed 11 in the victory. Freshman setter Philip Rogoz (Lincolnwood, IL) tallied a match-high 38 assists for the Engineers.

Freshman outside hitter Mike Ryan (Ludlow, MA) recorded 12 kills in the loss for the Blazers, while freshman setter Ivan Andujar (Carolina, Puerto Rico) added 32 assists.

Andujar surpassed Bledsoe's single-season record of 605 assists set last season.

The Engineers also received solid offensive pressure from sophomore middle hitter Scott Pollum (Indianapolis, IN), who contributed 9 kills.

The Blazers return to action Saturday, March 3 when they host Newbury College in a non-conference match. Match time is set for 2:00 p.m.
