CHICOPEE, MA, Jan. 30, 2007 - Elms College junior outside hitter Byron Bledsoe (Lake Forest, CA) recorded a team-high 11 kills but Emmanuel College freshman setter Taylor Lowe (Malibu, CA) registered match-high 51 assists to help lead the Saints to a 3-1 (30-24, 30-18, 32-34, 30-12) victory over the Blazers in Tuesday night's North East Collegiate Volleyball Association (NECVA) New England Division men's volleyball match at Maguire Center.

Elms College lost its fourth straight to fall to 1-5 overall, 1-2 NECVA New England, while Emmanuel picks up its second straight victory to improve to 2-4 overall, 1-1 NECVA North England.

The Saints jumped out to a two games-to-none lead on the back of solid defensive play from freshman outside hitter Michael Townsend (Beaverdam, VA) who recorded 18 digs and 11 kills, and heavy offensive pressure from senior outside hitter John Bluhm (Ventura, CA), who registered a match-high 15 kills.

The Blazers rallied in the third game and had game-point opportunities three different times before an attack error by the Saints enabled Elms College to post a 34-32 victory.

The Blazers received solid offensive play from freshman setter Ivan Andujar (Carolina, Puerto Rico) who notched a team high 16 assists and 8 kills in the loss.

The Blazers return to action Saturday February 3, when they travel to Lasell for a conference match. Match time is set for 1:00 p.m.
