MEN'S VOLLEYBALL CLIMBS PAST MOUNT IDA, 3-1

NEWTON, MA, Feb. 15, 2007 - Elms College senior outside hitters Byron Bledsoe (Lake Forest, CA) and Brian Cunniff (Pittsfield, MA) combined for 36 kills, and freshman setter Ivan Andujar (Carolina, Puerto Rico) handed out 50 assists to help lead the Blazers to a 3-1 (32-30, 26-30, 30-14, 30-18) win over Mount Ida College in Thursday night's non-conference men's volleyball match at the Mount Ida Athletic Center.

Elms College won for the third time in its last four matches and improved to 4-6 overall. Mount Ida fell to 1-11 overall.

Bledsoe tallied a team-high 20 kills and added 21 digs, while Cunniff added 16 kills in the victory.

Senior middle hitter Anthony Cesaro (Kingston, RI) was solid defensively, as he registered three block solos and two block assists for the Blazers.

Andujar has been clutch for Elms College in its last four matches, as he has handed out a combined 183 assists, including a four-game, program-record 62 in the team's 3-1 win at Lasell on February 3.

Senior middle blocker Tim Hughes (Holliston, MA) knocked down a match-high 21 kills and became the first player in Mount Ida program-history to surpass 1,000 career kills in the losing effort.
