Student Athlete Spotlight

Jason DiMauro - Elms College senior swimmer Jason DiMauro (New Hartford, Conn.) was selected as this week's male student athlete spotlight.

The recent winner of the athletic department's Froehlich Award, DiMauro is a secondary education and history double-major.

"My favorite sports moment outside of the New York Giants winning the super bowl in 2007, was setting the 400-yard freestyle relay record during my senior year of high school. Me and three of my best friends set the record on our senior night, beating the mark by more than three seconds. The previous record had been set by the seniors during my freshman year and before them, the record had stood for 16 years."

The most interesting people that DiMauro has met are his father and uncles because he admires their work ethic - a quality that runs in the family.

A four-year swimmer for the Blazers and a captain during his senior year, DiMauro graduates in the top 10 in 15 of 18 individual events and is the school record holder in the 1500-meter freestyle which he established in 2007. He is also part of the 200-meter medley relay (2010), 200-meter freestyle relay (2008) and 400-meter freestyle (2007) record-holding relay teams. In addition, he helped the 400-yard freestyle relay and 800-yard freestyle relay teams to new school records in 2010 and 2009 respectively.
