MEN'S SOCCER ROLLS PAST RIVIER, 3-0

CHICOPEE, MA, Sept. 9, 2008 - Elms College senior forward Brian Murca (Chicopee, MA), freshman forward Adam Schnopp (Pittsfield, MA) and sophomore midfielder Nick Espinola (Derry, NH) each netted their first goals of the year to help the Blazers roll to a 3-0 shutout over Rivier in Tuesday night's non-conference men's soccer game at Leary Field.

Espinola got the Blazers (2-1) off to a quick 1-0 lead when he collected a rebound and blasted a shot past Rivier sophomore goalkeeper Jon Jarvis (St. Albans, VT) just 4:54 into the match.

Murca extended Elms College's lead to 2-0 in the 47th minute when he collected a rebound and put a shot past Jarvis just inside the near post.

Schnopp followed with his first collegiate goal in the 67th minute after taking a centering pass from junior midfielder Ben Masse (Chicopee, MA) and blasting a shot past Jarvis to complete the scoring.

Jarvis stopped nine shots in the losing effort, while Elms College freshman Ryan Sullivan (Agawam, MA) and sophomore Bill Dziura (Chicopee, MA) combined for one save in the victory.

Elms College held advantages in both shots (27-7) and corner kicks (5-0).

The Blazers return to non-conference play when they host Springfield on Saturday, September 13. Game time is 1:00 p.m. at Leary Field.
