MEN'S SOCCER TOPS THOMAS, 1-0

Box score

CHICOPEE, MA, Oct. 13, 2007 - Elms College sophomore forward T.J. Nevue (Palmer, MA) netted his team-leading sixth goal of the year and junior goalkeeper Nick Pellegrini (Ludlow, MA) stopped three shots to help lift the Blazers to a hard-fought 1-0 win over Thomas College in Saturday afternoon's North Atlantic Conference (NAC) men's soccer game at Leary Field.

Elms College won for the third time in its last four games to improve to 4-8-1 overall and are now tied for second place with Becker in the current NAC standings at 4-2.

Thomas fell to 5-6-3 overall, 1-4-1 NAC.

The game remained scoreless until Nevue collected a pass from sophomore forward Sean Moylan (Chicopee, MA) down the wing, broke past two defenders and blasted a shot past Thomas senior goalkeeper Russell Beckwith (North Berwick, ME).

Beckwith finished with nine stops for the Terriers, who were outshot by the Blazers 19-13.

Elms College returns to non-conference play when it hosts Salem State College on Wednesday, October 17. Game time is 3:30 p.m. at Leary Field.
