MEN'S SOCCER NIPPED BY CASTLETON, 1-0
CASTLETON, VT., Sep. 29, 2007 - Elms College junior goalkeeper Nick Pellegrini (Ludlow, MA) stopped three shots, but could not prevent Castleton sophomore forward Corey Robbins (Barre, VT) from netting the game winner for a 1-0 victory in Saturday's North Atlantic Conference (NAC) men's soccer game at Castleton.
Robbins blasted a direct kick from 20 yards out in the 41st minute which deflected off a Blazer defender and slipped past the diving Pellegrini.
Castleton junior goalkeeper Mike Anthony (Dartmouth, MA) posted a shutout, finishing the game with 11 saves. Anthony was called upon to make eight saves in the second half as Elms College tried to even the score.
Castleton improves to 5-5 overall, 3-1 NAC, while the loss sends Elms College to 1-7-1 overall, 1-1 NAC.
Elms College returns to conference play when the Blazers travel
to Lesley University on Wednesday, October 3. Game time is
scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
