Box score

CHICOPEE, MA, Sept. 18, 2007 - Elms College freshman forward T. J. Nevue (Palmer, MA) netted his second goal of the season, but Westfield State senior forward Nick Gumlaw (Agawam, MA) had a goal and an assist to help lift the Owls to a 2-1 non-conference men's soccer win over the Blazers in the first-ever night game at Leary Field on Tuesday night.

Westfield State won its second straight game to improve to 2-4, while Elms College remained winless at 0-5.

With the game tied 1-1 in the 87th minute, Westfield State sophomore midfielder Kevin Andrade (Acushnet, MA) tallied his first goal of the year off an assist by Gumlaw to provide the game-winner for the Owls.

Nevue had tied the game at 1-1 in the 76th minute for the Blazers when he received sophomore forward Brian Murca's (Chicopee, MA) cross and blasted a shot past Westfield senior goalkeeper Mark Tiffany (Easthampton, MA).

Gumlaw scored his team-leading fourth goal of the year in the 16th minute and Tiffany finished with two stops to earn the win between the pipes.

Elms College junior goalkeeper Nick Pellegrini (Ludlow, MA) stopped five shots in the losing effort.

Elms College returns to action at Albertus Magnus on Thursday, September 20.  Game time is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
