  MEN'S SOCCER CLIMBS PAST MOUNT IDA, 2-1

CHICOPEE, MA, Oct. 4, 2006 - Elms College freshman midfielder Ben Masse (Chicopee, MA) netted the eventual game-winning goal en route to the Blazers' 2-1 victory over Mount Ida College in Wednesday afternoon's North Atlantic Conference (NAC) men's soccer game at Leary Field.

Elms College (4-5 overall, 3-2 NAC), which won it second straight game, broke away from a 1-1 tie at intermission on Masse's third goal of the season. With the loss, Mount Ida falls to 6-4-1 overall and 2-1-1 in the NAC.

Mount Ida jumped out to an early lead as senior midfielder Josh Belongie (Ashaway, RI) scored his fifth goal of the season at 11:19. Elms College bounced back, as freshman forward Sean Moylan (Chicopee, MA) netted his first goal of the season on a short pass from junior midfielder Nda Kaslong (Jos, Nigeria), in the 15th minute.

Sophomore goalkeeper Nick Pellegrini (Ludlow, MA) turned aside six shots in the win for the Blazers.

Elms College returns to action Monday, October 9, when they host Rivier College at Leary Field. Game time is 2:00 p.m.
