  MEN'S SOCCER FALLS TO JOHNSON STATE, 2-1

CHICOPEE, MA Oct. 21, 2006 - Elms College freshman midfielder Ben Masse (Chicopee, MA) scored his fifth goal of the season, but Johnson State College senior forward Michael Grieco (Andover, MA) netted a pair of goals to help lift the visiting Badgers to a 2-1 win over the Blazers in Saturday afternoon's North Atlantic Conference men's soccer game at Leary Field.

With the loss, the Blazers lose their second straight game and fall to 6-8-1 overall, and 5-4 in the NAC.

Masse scored the game's first goal in the 18th minute on a cross from junior midfielder Nda Kaslong (Jos, Nigeria), placing the ball in the left corner of the net.

Johnson State senior forward Michael Grieco (Andover, MA) tied the game at 1-1 in the 59th minute, scoring off a free kick.

Grieco scored the go-ahead goal in the 86th minute off a penalty kick for his team-leading ninth tally of the year.

Elms College sophomore goalkeeper Phil Joyce (Ashland, NH) turned away 11 shots in the losing effort. Johnson State sophomore goalkeeper Andy Lane (Charlotte, VT) stopped 10 shots for the Badgers.

The Blazers return to action Sunday, Oct. 22, as they host Castleton State College at Leary Field. Game time is slated for 2:00 p.m.
