MEN'S SOCCER FALLS TO WESTFIELD STATE, 3-0
WESTFIELD, MA, Sept. 8, 2006 - Elms College sophomore goalkeepers Phil Joyce (Ashland, NH) and Nick Pellegrini (Ludlow, MA) stopped a combined 10 shots, but host Westfield State College netted a pair of second half goals to pull away to a 3-0 non-conference men's soccer win in the Blazers' season-opener on Friday night at Westfield.
Westfield State, which evened its record to 2-2, netted goals in the 26th, 56th and 70th minutes to secure the victory.
Elms College, which fell to the Owls for the second straight season, was outshot 20-10 in Friday night's defeat.
The Blazers return to non-conference road action on Wednesday,
September 13 at Norwich University. Game time is 4:30 p.m.
