  MEN'S SOCCER SHUTS DOWN MAINE-FARMINGTON, 1-0

Box score

FARMINGTON, ME, Oct. 15, 2006 - Elms College freshman forward Sean Moylan (Chicopee, MA) scored his team-leading fifth goal of the year and sophomore goalkeeper Phil Joyce (Ashland, NH) stopped seven shots to help lift the Blazers to an impressive 1-0 shutout over the University of Maine-Farmington in Sunday's North Atlantic Conference (NAC) men's soccer game at Prescott Field.

Elms College, which has gone 4-1-1 in its last six games, improved to 6-6-1 overall, 5-3 NAC. Maine-Farmington fell to 5-7-3 overall, 4-3-2 NAC.

Moylan, who also scored both goals in Saturday's 2-0 shutout at Thomas, netted the game's only goal on Sunday in the 32nd minute.

From there, Joyce and the Blazers' defenders did the rest as Moylan's goal stood as the eventual game-winner.

Elms College, which moved into sole possession of third place in the NAC standings, returns to non-conference play on Wednesday, October 18 at Salem State College. Game time is 6:00 p.m.
