CHICOPEE, Mass. -- A second-half rally from the Elms College men's basketball team came up short on Tuesday night as Trinity (CT) picked up an 82-55 win over the Blazers in Picknelly Arena.
The Blazers trailed by 24, 47-23 early in the second half but cut that deficit to just 11 on three occasions with less than nine minutes to play, the last being 59-48 with 7:18 remaining. Trinity, however, went on a 16-3 run that lasted nearly four minutes to put the game away.
Pablo Ortiz led Elms with 18 points and seven rebounds. He went 6-of-11 from the field and did not commit a turnover in 31 minutes of play. Michal Ohradka added 10 points and David Lopez Jr., scored seven for the Blazers (0-4).
Christian Porydzy led all scorers with 22 points in the game for Trinity and Nick Seretta added 17 for the Bantams.
Trinity shot 48.4 percent (30-of-62) from the field for the game and hit 7-of-24 from deep. Elms, meanwhile, shot 35.1 percent from the field and just 15.8 percent (3-of-19) from 3-point range.
Trinity won the rebounding battle 43-38 and outscored Elms 9-1 in second-chance points.
Elms will return to action at Fitchburg State on Nov. 27 and Trinity will visit Nichols on Nov. 25.
