Arsenio Avant
Elms College senior men's basketball player Arsenio Avant
(Southwest Ranches, Fla.) was selected as this week's male
student athlete spotlight.
Now in his third season as a member of the Blazers' men's basketball team, Avant is an elementary education major at Elms.
During his three-year career at Elms, Avant has asserted himself as one of the squad's most tenacious defenders.Through the first five games of the 2010-11 season, Avant has recorded 11 steals (including five in the season-opener against Husson University) and has also dished out 13 assists to help spark the Blazers' opportunistic offense. For his career, Avant has recorded 65 steals and dished out 91 assists.
Briefly describe your favorite sports moment (playing or as a fan):
My favorite sports moment was winning the high school district championship and last year's conference championship win.
Who has been your biggest influence in sports and why:
My mother because she has been a single parent since 1996.

My favorite place to travel to is Las Vegas, Nevada.
Where is the one place you would like to travel to in the future and why:
What is your favorite sports book or movie:
My favorite book is Hoops because it tells the story of a teenager trying to make it in basketball and I can relate.
