MEN'S BASKETBALL DOWNS MITCHELL IN FIRST ROUND OF
EASTERN CONNECTICUT TIP-OFF TOURNAMENT, 99-81

WILLIMANTIC, CT, Nov. 17, 2006 - Elms College senior guard David Williams (Hartford, CT) netted a game-high 23 points and the Blazers had five players reach double figures en route to a 99-81 win over Mitchell College in Friday's non-conference season-opener for both teams in the Eastern Connecticut Tip-Off Tournament at Geissler Gymnasium.

With the win, Elms College advances to Saturday afternoon's 3:00 p.m. championship game to face host Eastern Connecticut - a 75-69 winner over the College of Mount Saint Vincent in Friday night's other first round game.

Junior forward Renato Lindmets (Springfield, MA) scored 21 points on 9 of 14 shooting from the field for the Blazers, who pulled away from a 51-44 lead at intermission.

Junior guard Randy Hite (Hartford, CT) had 14 points, freshman guard Juan Galdon (Holyoke, MA) dropped in 13 points, including three 3-pointers, and junior forward Nate Hawes (New Hope, MN) added 10 points as the three other players to reach double figures in the victory.
