MEN'S BASKETBALL OUTLASTS LASELL, 87-83

NEWTON, MA Jan. 30, 2007 - Elms College junior forward Nathan Hawes (New Hope, MN) scored a season-high 17 points on 8 of 8 shooting, and four players reached double figures to lead the Blazers to an 87-83 victory over Lasell in Tuesday night's North Atlantic Conference (NAC) West Division men's basketball game at Newton.

The Blazers won their second straight to improve to 11-6 overall, 6-1 NAC. Lasell, previously undefeated in the NAC, fell to 11-7 overall, 8-1 NAC. The Blazers and Lasers are now tied atop the NAC West Division standings.  

Lasell junior forward Jaime Crawford (Coral Springs, FL) registered a game-high 31 points, while sophomore forward Jose Guitan (Miami, FL) recorded a double-double (10 points and 20 rebounds) in the loss.

Elms College senior guard David Williams (Hartford, CT) and sophomore forward Malakie Berry (Enfield, CT) each contributed 12 points. Junior guard Randy Hite (Hartford, CT) added 10 points and six rebounds to round out the double-figure scorers for the Blazers.

The Blazers return to North Atlantic Conference action Friday, February 2, when they host Castleton. Game time is set for 6:00 p.m.
