MEN'S BASKETBALL FALLS AT CASTLETON STATE, 102-94

CASTLETON, VT, Feb. 17, 2007 - Elms College senior guard David Williams (Hartford, CT) netted a team-high 25 points, but Castleton State had four player reach double figures en route to a 102-94 victory in Saturday afternoon's North Atlantic Conference (NAC) men's basketball game at Glenbrook Gymnasium.

With the loss, Elms College finishes the regular season 17-8 overall, 12-3 NAC, while Castleton State finishes 15-10 overall, 9-6 NAC.

Elms College mounted a 45-40 lead at halftime before Castleton made 23 of 30 free-throws in the second half to fend off the Blazers.

Castleton junior guard Joe Farley (Fairlee, VT) registered a game-high 27 points, while senior forward Jeremy Jorgensen (Fairlee, VT) contributed 24 points and 13 rebounds in the win for the Spartans.

Blazers junior forward Nate Hawes (New Hope, MN) added a double-double, tallying 13 points and 19 rebounds, while senior guard Justin Davis (Huntington, NY) recorded 20 points off the bench in the loss.

Castleton received solid play from sophomore guard Josh Howe (Randolph, VT), who netted 20 points off the bench, and junior guard Rich Reilly (Manassas, VA), who added 19 points to round out the top scorers for the Badgers.  

The Blazers return to action Tuesday, February 20, when they host a North Atlantic Conference Tournament Quarterfinal game. Time and opponent are yet to be determined.
