FIELD HOCKEY FALLS AT WHEELOCK IN OVERTIME, 3-2

Box score

BOSTON, MA, Oct. 11, 2008 - Elms College junior midfielder Kaitlyn Graham (Paxton, MA) and senior forward Sarah Lapolice (West Springfield, MA) each scored a goal, but Wheelock freshman forward Alanna Pihl (Franconia, NH) netted the game-winner in overtime to send the host Wildcats to a 3-2 win over the Blazers in Saturday's New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) field hockey game.

The Wildcats, who avenged a 4-2 loss at Elms College eight days ago, improved to 2-10 overall, 2-3 NECC. The Blazers fell to 3-9, 2-3 NECC.

Graham tallied just 4:08 into the game for her second goal of the year to give the Blazers a 1-0 lead.

Wheelock answered with goals at 30:25 and 36:36 to take a 2-1 lead.

Lapolice, however, answered just 24 seconds later to knot the game at 2-2.

The game remained tied at 2-all until Pihl scored the winner 6:44 into overtime.

Elms College senior goalkeeper Katelyn Wasgatt (Worcester, MA) finished with 14 saves in the loss.

The Blazers return to non-conference play on Tuesday, October 14 at Simmons. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
