FIELD HOCKEY DOWNED BY DANIEL WEBSTER IN OVERTIME, 3-2

NASHUA, NH, Sept. 17, 2008 - Elms College senior goalkeeper Katelyn Wasgatt (Worcester, MA) stopped five shots, but Daniel Webster senior forward Emily Coole (Pepperell, MA) delivered the game-winning goal 8:06 in overtime to send the host Eagles to a 3-2 win over the Blazers a New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) field hockey game at Harvey Woods Field.

Coole's sixth of the season - and second game winner in four outings - gave the Eagles their third straight victory as they improved to 3-1 overall (2-1 NECC) in their inaugural intercollegiate season.

Freshman forward Sarah Steves (North Granville, NY) helped pace the offense, notching two first half scores for Daniel Webster, while freshman goalkeeper Amy Prince (Hope Valley, RI) added five saves, including four in the second half.

The teams combined for four goals over a span of just under 21 minutes in the opening frame.

Sophomore midfielder Denise Perks (Blackstone, MA) put Elms College on the board off sophomore midfielder Courtney Gilmore's (Mansfield, MA) feed 11:20 in, but Steves tied it after tipping home a Natalie Bates (North Kingstown, RI) shot in the 22^nd minute.

Elms College retook the lead just 2:14 later when Perks and senior midfielder Christine Fleury (South Hadley, MA) combined for a brief two-on-one break with Fleury tipping home Perks' pass for a 2-1 lead.

The Eagles came right back at the 32:03 mark with Steves popping home a loose ball in a scramble from four yards out.

The Eagles finished with a 17-12 shots advantage and were aided by a 20-8 advantage in penalty corners.

Elms College is off until Saturday when it travels to Becker for a NECC matchup beginning at 11:00 a.m.
